The Substitute Teacher, in San Francisco

posted Thursday, 24 April 2008

Hello kiddies,

Since the Ironic1 is having lots of fun at home, w/o me, I decided to make one of my yearly posts. Yes thats right, its the insurmountable,  unequivocal, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ... Jon. (for those new to the game, I'm married to Ironic1)

My company decided to send me out for training in San Francisco, CA this week. My weekly schedule has been wake up at about 6:30, shower, watch a little bit of Mike&Mike or ESPNNews, meet up with some fellow students/coworkers for breakfast at 8, and have training from 9AM-5PM. Roughly. Lunch has been a mix and match of local fast food joints (I did get Chipotle once so far.)

So far I've:

  1. Monday, I went to Fisherman's Wharf , spending too much money and gave my fries to a bum that was pestering for food
  2. Tuesday, I walked through Chinatown . Picked up some gifts for the kitties (don't tell them)
  3. Wednesday, I went to the Minnesota Twins @ Oakland A's game. $2 tickets ($2 face value, w/ about $2.50 service charge = $4.50). It was also $1 hotdog night. I had 2 dogs, and we got booted from a section because we tried to sneak down to the better seats.
  4. Thursday, I rented a bike and rode over the Golden Gate bridge (!!!). I was ditched by fellow students, who went to some bar or something, and figured that I wanted to go over the bridge. About half (HAF!) way through, I realized that I wasn't in as good shape as I thought I was (although round - IS - a shape.) But I made it over. I went by myself, but met 2 Russian guys, who attempted to go over. I say attempted, cause only one guy made it over with me. He is 19 years old, I am 29. We both struggled to make it over, but made it and took the ferry back to SF. I am still hurting a lot, but it was an amazing experience.
Tomorrow (Friday), I should wrap up training early (before noon), and then I'm going w/ a bunch of people to Alcatraz . Apparently the tour sells out quickly, so I had to preorder some tickets.

Pictures will be coming soon. I will leave that to the Ironic1. Take care kiddies. Class is dismissed.
