Ten On Tuesday: The Late Edition

posted Wednesday, 14 June 2006

Hey, not my fault this time!  I swear!  Sometimes, life just gets in the way, no matter who you are.

Today's theme is going to be a little tough, and I predict that my list will be incomplete... as I can't remember many of my childhood toys.  Hey, it was a long time ago!

Ten Favorite Childhood Toys

  1. Weeble-Wobbles -- the old skool ones, not the new ones -- and the cool treehouse play set that was made for them.

  2. Sesame Street Neighborhood -- it had the brownstone that opened up to show the front of the building on one side and allow access inside on the other side.  You could place mini furniture in the different apartments and stores and there were little characters Weeble Wobbles (I just remembered!) of the different characters.  It was one of my very faves!

  3. My Friend Mandy -- She was a blonde-haired doll that I loved, even though I wasn't really into dolls.  I guess she was a "modern" doll compared to most back in the '70s.  They also sold all kinds of outfits and accessories for her.  I also had My Friend Jenny, who was brunette and had slightly darker skin.

  4. Easy Bake Oven -- everyone knows about the EBO... with the Extreme Cooking Power™ of a 40-watt lightbulb!

  5. A wooden dollhouse that my parents assembled and painted themselves for me for Christmas one year.  It was complete with mini furniture and mini dolls!

  6. Books, paper, pens, rubber stamps, carbon-copy forms from the bank....  I LOVED to play school/post office/bank/library... I was an only child for 9 years.... I had to learn how to entertain myself!

  7. Lite-Brite!!!  Here's an online version.

  8. Barbie -- everyone knows Barbie... and although I never had any of the fun accessories like the car or the house, I had PLENTY of Barbie clothes and PLENTY of imagination to play with.  Hell, I MADE furniture and houses and stuff for that chick!

  9. My bicycle -- I actually had one and rode it (unlike many kids these days) -- AND, I enjoyed riding my bike!

  10. x

I could only come up with 9, but I think that's a pretty damn good list!
