I'm currently on hold with Garmin International, waiting for a software techie-kinda person to come on the line to uh, 'fix' my little problem with my Garmin Nuvi 255. I've been holding for... *checks timer on phone* 68:04 minutes. That's 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 4 seconds.
See, I 'broke' my Nuvi last night when I used Garmin's WebUpdater to, uh, update my Nuvi. Everything appeared to go smoothly and I didn't mess with the USB cable or disconnect the unit before I was supposed to. I know better than that. Anyway, once the update had 'finished,' I got this message on my Garmin: SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING.
WHAT.THE.FUCK.??!??!?!?
Ummm, yeah. Jon tried his best to remedy the situation, only to find that other owners of the Nuvi have had the same issue. So now, I am waiting to talk to a software dude/dudette who can email me the SYSTEM SOFTWARE that I am suddenly MISSING. My question is this: their customer service closes at 7 PM Central Time. That's in 22 minutes. Will I actually get through tonight???
Good thing I don't have any unknown place that I have to get to... anytime soon.
Oh, and if I have to hear The Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera one damn more time... I will break out into singing the melody of the song, as I don't know the words. It's all instrumental on this version.
*** HOLEEEEE SHIIIIT *** I'm through at 7:42 PM!!!!
Aaaaannnndddd.... a grand total of 96 minutes and some odd seconds later, my Garmin Nuvi is FIXED!!!!! BY AN AMERICAN WHO SPOKE PERFECT ENGLISH IN THE USofA!!!! (No offense to those readers who may provide tech support while living in another country, like, say, India.... but I could understand this man!!!)
Nuvi works again!!! And? I didn't have to re-enter my information that was in there! Hooooorrraaaaaayyyyyy!!!
I ♥ Garmin!
