Maybe this is Someone's way of paying me back for forgetting about the cat carrier and residual scents therein.
I woke up at 7 AM so I could be "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed" for the glass technician coming out to replace my windshield on my HHR. Because, you know, the Progressive claims dude I spoke with yesterday afternoon put me in for the earliest appointment within the 8:00 AM - noon time frame.
Shit. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed? You've got to be kidding me. It was more like, FUCK. I need to go back to bed. Anyway, I shimmied into some house shorts and a t-shirt (yes, I put on a bra -- didn't want to scare off any glass technicians or anything like that) and came downstairs. I didn't even wash my face or brush my teef. (I'll be going up to do that shortly. Very shortly.) I moved my car into the middle of the garage for easier access to said windshield, and I grabbed the newspaper.
I came in, had a bagel and read the paper, and then had to sack out on the couch. I knew the tech wasn't going to be here anywhere near the hours of 8:00 AM OR 9:00 AM. I finally got up and called the glass place around 10 AM to check to make sure the appointment was indeed scheduled, and get an approximate time that the tech would arrive.
Hallelujah and praise the bebby jeebus -- I AM scheduled for an appointment TODAY, between 8:00 AM and noon. They even knew that it was for a 2006 Chevy HHR windshield. Hey, that's progress. The lady then put me on hold and called the tech that is scheduled to do the repair out here. She came back on and said, He should be there between noon and 12:30.
In the span of two seconds, I tried to figure out how in the blue hell that time fit within the given time frame of 8:00 AM to noon. Was that 8:00 AM yesterday and noon tomorrow? Because that would work.... not for MY schedule, but that's the only way it would fit into a schedule of some sort. I then calmly told the lady that I HAD to be on the road by 3:00 PM, NO later, as I have an obligation that cannot be missed, and would that be a problem? Because, you know, I was supposed to have this taken care of yesterday, and the appointment never was actually scheduled, and now the tech can't arrive during the scheduled time, thus making time an issue.
I was assured that, even if he didn't get here until 1:00 PM, this tech would have the new windshield in place in an hour (2:00 PM) and there would still be that hour for adhering/settling that is necessary, and that I could definitely be on the road by 3:00 PM.
We shall see....
